5- Hydroxytryptophan- an amino acid proven in clinical studies to increase serotonin in the brain. 5-HTP, along with required nutrient co-factors found in this formula, increase brain serotonin levels to reduce depression, anxiety, irritability, and improve the sleep/wake cycle.
L-Theanine increases levels of GABA. It works to prevent neurotransmitter overstimulation, keeping the excitatory system in balance. L-Theanine has been studied extensively for its ability to reduce the uptake of the excitatory amino acid glutamate and regulate how much serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine are excreted. It has been found to have a protective effect on the brain's neurons, shielding them from the effects of oxidation and glutamate overstimulation.
L-Tyrosine- a precursor for the catecholamine's (dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine). Supports energy level, mental clarity, positive mood, stress response, and thyroid function.
Calcium Citrate- Involved with epinephrine release. A deficiency in calcium can cause irritability, anxiety, and insomnia.
Folic Acid- folate deficiency is linked to depression, insomnia, anorexia, forgetfulness, hyperirritability, apathy, fatigue and anxiety.
Vitamin B6 as pyridoxyl 5 phosphate the active co-enzymatic form of B6. The cofactor for enzymes that convert tryptophan to serotonin and L-tyrosine to norepinephrine.
Vitamin C- A required co-factor for the conversion of 5-HTP to serotonin. Prevents 5-HTP from converting to serotonin in the GI tract.

Take two Capsules twice daily
Brain Balance may boost the effectiveness of certain antidepressant medication- such as SSRI's- by increasing neurotransmitter supplies, but this should be done only under the guidance of a health practitioner. Brain Balance should not be taken if you are taking an MAO inhibitor like Marplan, Parnate, or Nardil. If you are pregnant or nursing consult your health practitioner before taking this or any medications or supplements.
Side effects are generally mild, and may include nausea, or GI upset, and typically subside with continued product use. Side effects may also reduce when doses are lowered or taken with food.
