CelerEase has been shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 (COX 1 and 2) activity, as well as prostagladin 2 (PGE2) production. This is believed to occur as some of the compounds in celery seed are structural analogs of arachidonic acid. As prostaglandins and other eicosanoids, are biochemically synthesized from this fatty acid, these celery seed compounds can serve as competitive substrates for COX and LOX enzyme systems, inhibiting the formation of PGE2 and other inflammatory eicosanoids. 4 References: 1.
